Someone came to me recently saying that she may not have handled the breakup with much grace and now her ex has blocked her. She wants him back, so she’s worried that all hope is lost! As I told her, she can get unblocked by him if she follows these steps very closely. As I know that many of you are struggling with the same issue, I wanted to write an article on how to get unblocked by your ex!
It’s normal to panic after a breakup, and people often act in ways they wouldn’t normally act because they’re afraid of losing their ex for good. The result is that the situation becomes even more complicated and they run into a brick wall.
There are a few things you can do when you want your ex to unblock you, but you have to avoid giving in to temptation! I know that your emotions feel like they’re all over the place right now, but you’ll just have to follow the guidelines I’m about to share with you and you’ll be back on track. You’ll see that your ex is going to unblock you sooner than you thought!
My ex blocked me: Why?
If you had trouble handling the breakup with dignity and grace, well, you probably already know why your ex blocked you. People are often overwhelmed by the pain that follows a breakup. They’ll often suffocate their ex with constant texts and phone calls, or exhibit vindictive or vengeful behavior. This makes their ex want to get as far away from them as possible, and part of that process involves blocking them.
Sometimes all you want is to convince your ex to give you a second chance, but your approach gets you blocked. You end up feeling worse than before and have no idea what to do. It’s also infuriating because it makes you feel powerless! It’s hard to know how to get unblocked because it feels like your ex is calling all the shots. They’re in control of the situation and you’re just sitting here out in the cold.
Well, we are going to turn things around.
I should mention that there is another situation in which a person can get blocked, but at first glance it doesn’t seem to make any sense.
Charlotte came to me two weeks ago with this:
“My ex and I actually broke up amicably. He was my best friend but I think we just grew apart. In the time that has passed since our separation, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I believe that it may have been a mistake to leave him. I think that we grew apart because I didn’t nurture the relationship enough and now I regret it.
I would like to attempt getting back together with him, but there’s a catch. He’s blocked me… I don’t know why? We weren’t fighting, I don’t feel like I did anything to make him feel disrespected or anything. I don’t understand why he blocked me… I thought we were on good terms and now I don’t know what to do.”
As we worked together and analyzed the situation, we discovered that her ex had actually blocked her because he just needed space to heal from the breakup. It’s exceedingly hard to bounce back from a breakup as it is – and when you’re still in contact with your ex it can be even harder. He opted to block her so that he wouldn’t give in to the temptation to check on what she was doing, who she was with, what she looked like now, etc. It was his way of easing the pain.
So you see, there are different reasons a person might have for blocking you. It’s not always because you did something wrong.
Now, as we dive into how to get unblocked, I want to start things off with a reassuring thought.
If your ex blocked you, it means that they’re feeling something strong for you. The opposite of love is not hate – it is indifference. If you got blocked on Facebook or Instagram or any other social media platform, it means that your ex is experiencing a surge of emotions when it comes to you. Whether these emotions are rooted in love or even bitterness, it means that he or she cares and that your presence can get a reaction from them.
Now, it’s going to be up to you to use this to your advantage.
How to make someone unblock you when you want them back!
First things first. If you want to know how to get unblocked on Facebook or any other social media platform, you’re going to have to start out by giving your ex the space they obviously need. Blocking you is a forceful way to put distance between you.
He or she felt that this is what they needed, and it’s going to be important to respect their wishes right now. Trust me, you don’t want to make matters worse!
If you try to force your ex to unblock you by getting all your friends to talk to him or her, or by threatening, you’re just going to reassure them that their decision to block you was great.
When you’re thinking about how to be unlocked, here’s the main thing I want you to think about:
You’re going to have to inspire your ex to want to get close to you again.
This is the only way you’re going to get Facebook or Instagram unblocked fast.
Great! So how do we do this?
So either your ex blocked you because emotions were running high and they felt like they needed to get away from you, or it hurt too much to talk to you.
Either way, the blocking happened because they were feeling too much. When emotions run high, logic runs low, right?
Well, emotions settle down with time – if allowed to do so. What’s more, chances are that you aren’t going to be blocked forever. But I know, I know, you want to be unlocked NOW.
So, when two people break up, it hurts… a lot. It can hurt enough to make your ex block you. What happens next?
Well, he or she has the time and space to think about the breakup. At the very beginning, things are going to feel tender and emotions will run high. This is when your ex is going to be the most upset (whether it’s angry or sad). With a little bit of time, these emotions will begin to settle down and make way for the next thing that happens: nostalgia.
More often than not, an ex will start to experience a wave of positive memories that start to flow back in. He or she will remember the good times and start to recall those moments that made them fall for you in the first place. This is when their guard will be down and they’ll actually start to miss you.
Here is where you’ve got to be prepared. More often than not, an ex will unblock you at this point. They’ll be curious about what you’ve been up to, and they’ll start to toy with the idea in their mind of speaking to you again.
If you’re familiar with the process of getting back together with an ex, then you know that one of the most important steps is healing from the breakup and becoming the best version of yourself. Don’t underestimate this step – it’s crucial.
You’re also lucky that both you and your ex use social media, because you can use it as a tool to share images that communicate the improvements you’ve been making in your own life. We want to spark your ex’s interest in your life.
Even if your ex isn’t viewing your profiles, your mutual friends are. Trust me when I say that word travels up the grapevine…
